Beginner Tips and Tricks for Star Wars: Jedi Survivor

Surviving Jedi Survivor?!?! — Tips and Tricks for Beginners in Star Wars: Jedi Survivor

What’s up guys,

So in the beginning of Star Wars: Jedi Survivor I quickly realized the force was not with me – I had no clue what I was doing. I had to learn the game and learn it’s style. I’m an avid gamer sure but not enough to catch on immediately. So these are a few things I found quite helpful, early on in game. There are no spoilers in this one, just a few tips to help you through the journey.

It’s good to explore, just don’t go overboard.

It’s pretty dang obvious that the more you explore the more benefits you find and experience you gain… But don’t worry so much about the red gates as those aren’t meant to be passed at this point in the game. You’ll just spend hours upon hours looking for ways to get somewhere you just simply can’t get… I know this from experience. Trust me this one I learned the hard way – know your simulation, homie. You’re meant to return later.

Where there’s a roller, there’s a way

Using the rolling bombs as your friend.

A Lot of times you see blocked doors, sludge on walls, big glowy things that kind of look out of place but don’t really get much mention… Yeah those things are probably gonna be a door with some nice cool “shiny thing” inside. Also at some points in the game you’ll have little rolling friends who follow you around and get so excited to see you that they explode. These are deceivingly your friends, find those walls that need to go, and force grab/throw them right into that wall. Just remember if there’s one following you, you’ll probably have a door close by. So have a little looksy.

Fast Travel and Short Cuts are essential.

As I said in the first few reviews of this game the short cuts are essential and key. Also as soon as you find a good number of Meditation Points you learn fast traveling becomes a simple way of Jedi life. I mean, who walks when you can pretty much just think yourself to another location? The shortcuts are also a must, especially if you haven’t yet reached that meditation point, no matter where you are, even if you don’t know where the shortcut comes from, hit it. You’ll thank yourself later, trust me.

Navigation assist on the pause menu – it’s okay to get help.

The map in Jedi Survivor can get a bit daunting at times with different levels, similar colors for those different levels, not much of a direction in where you’re going and if you’re like me and a bit “directionally challenged,” it can become a bit of a problem. So there’s a good tip the game offers us for this in the Navigation Assist check in the pause menu. Now you don’t really need this if you’re side questing it’s more of a story line kind of deal so if you’re just looking to casually get lost and forget your existence from time to time then just go ahead and skip over this one. We’ll get there eventually… right?

Stats are important. Go ahead and make sure you don’t die.

Lets face it, we all love to beat the crap out of mobs of droids or putting that nice combo to work as we decimate our enemies. The only problem with doing that early on is we sacrifice our health and constantly getting “one shotted” over and over again. Not fun, I don’t know about you but my niche doesn’t exactly fall into “rage gaming.” So to avoid this we want to spread our focus a bit, but not too much and make sure we Stat our Resilience all the way up, and BD-1’s stims have a pretty sufficient heal ratio to get you out of a pinch.

Settle down to your favorite two or three stances

I gotta admit I have only played a few stances in the beginning. I am trying to learn the others, they seem like a lot of fun. But I am just not gaining Stat Points fast enough and my ADD keeps me from being too much of a grinder. So to get through the game without much difficulty go ahead and focus down again with your stats. With this game it’s much better to at least master two than only know a few and you’ll quickly get the rest of them up in no time.

Wisdom is a fantastic perk to find and purchase early in game.

I’m just gonna go ahead and say it, you definitely want to go ahead and buy the wisdom perk early on. For the same reason as focusing down on your stats, you want to use them in the wisest (all puns intended) and most efficient way. Having your wisdom perk increases your stat putout so you grow faster. The sooner you get this, the sooner you’ll be OP.

A Bounty full of Rumors – Focus on these side quests if you shall.

If you’re gonna get lost in side quests and distract yourself from the story but don’t really wanna fall too far from the path, go for the Rumors and Bounty’s. These side quests are the most important as they also lead you towards the legendary beasts and bosses. The Bounties will also get your upgrades for combat. Which is an absolute win for me.

You don’t ALWAYS have to use your Peripherals, BD-1 has you covered.

BD-1 will let you know how your health is doing if you’d pay attention. I know it’s hard when you’re avoiding the giant grasps of the Rancor, a legendary beast btw, but it’s a lot easier to watch BD-1 instead of having to avert your eyes all the way to the bottom left of the screen. I use my peripherals but dang, one slight second longer and “Respawn…(x)”

If you don’t care about cosmetics, move on.

None of the visual customizations to BD-1, Cal, or the lightsabers actually DO anything. They don’t change the stats in anyway positive or negative so really you can just have fun with the looks and not have it affect the gameplay whatsoever. At least until you get to New Game +, or New Journey Plus in this case. So all in all if you don’t care that you look like you haven’t showered in days and still have on the original outfit from when you started then don’t worry you can still be a grub and it doesn’t affect your stats.

Get on with it, already…

It’s strongly advised that you just go ahead and go through the story. It’s not like it’s not better than ALL of the 6 movies before and after the original trilogy anyway and so much is unlocked with New Journey that you really don’t have to go through all the trouble of “avoiding this red gate,” or “trying to figure out if I can actually get around this big green wall instead of just gaining the ability to get through it and coming back.”

What’s worse is I’m such a hypocrite with this advice. My last stream was spent SOLELY on sidequests! I’m running a cutscene series on youtube for this game, check it out here if you’re curious, I’m out of content and yet I still spent 3 hours side questing… So maybe I should just learn to practice what I preach?

I sincerely hope these tips help you. I’m relatively new to bringing all these video game tips, tricks, reviews and how to’s so if you can let me know what you think in the comments.

Best of luck on your Journey friends…

see you next time… Forbes
